| Nude Celebrity Review: Buyer Beware |

Purchasing Services Online
The use of credit cards on the Internet is at an all time high. For that matter, so are online checks and telephone billing. Telephone billing is probably the least risky since purchases by this medium are usually a one time charge.
On the other hand, most service purchases are setup for recurring billing, especially when it comes to web site memberships. Because of this, there is more potential to incure extended charges is you do not shop wisely.
Through years of purchasing products and services on the Internet I've seldom had a problem. If you pay attention to the things I've listed below you should have a good experience.
|
Information Security Is YOUR Responsibility
Before you start typing in those numbers from your credit card or bank take a few minutes to look for some import things. These few minutes will spare you the endless greef of conducting a transaction with the wrong people.
Make sure the signup system is secure! A secure page means the information you are sending is encrypted so that it can't be captured by someone else as it makes its way across the Internet to the transaction processing company. Virtually all browsers now have a little icon that appears on the status bar showing when you are on a secure page. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape have a little lock icon that closes when you are sending secured data. Often browsers will even display a dialog box to confirm this. Most pages will also display their "secure certificate" that is a guarantee their system meets security standards.
NEVER SEND YOUR CREDIT CARD OR BANK INFORMATION FROM A PAGE THAT IS NOT SECURE.

Read The Terms and Conditions
Someplace on every site there should be a Terms and Conditions page that will tell you some important things: how to cancel, what your obligation is, who to contact for problems, etc. A link to it is often located on the Join Page. If you have to hunt a lot to find or they don't have one, I'd move on to another site. ALWAYS READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND WRITE NECESSARY INFORMATION DOWN BEFORE YOU PROCESS YOUR TRANSCTION.
|
Locate Customer Service
The best sites will have a Customer Service link both inside and outside the site in a highly visible location. I've found when you find a site like this you won't have any problems or when you do, they will be resolved quickly. Customer Service will provide things like: Cancellation instructions, password recovery systems, error reporting links, etc.
|
Trial Memberships
Virtually all adult sites offer trial memberships these days. They can be almost any length though usually they range from 3 days to 7 days for a small fee. In almost all cases, if you read the Terms and Conditions or the Join Page you'll see that if you don't cancel BEFORE the end of the time period you will be rebilled for a monthly membership when the trial period is over. Note the word before. That doesn't mean you cancel a 3 day trial at the end of the 3rd day. If you wait that long you're sure to already be in the billing cue for the recurring membership.
|
When To Cancel A Membership
Most people remain members of sites from 3 to 6 months. By this time they are on the look for something else. Membership sites are very aware of this. If you've decided to cancel make sure you know what day of the month you joined. Send your cancellation request at least one week in advance for the end of you current subscription period. If you don't it's possible it will not be processed in time to stop the next billing. This is no different that most department stores. They process sales much faster than refunds. On the Internet whether you use 5 minutes or then entire subscription period you will be charged for the entire period. Read the Terms and Conditions!
|
Write Things Down or Print Them Out
Typically when you complete a transaction online a page will be displayed confirming your transaction and providing information such as subscription ID, transaction number, etc. Make sure you keep a copy in case you want to cancel. Virtually all companies will require some or all of this info, as well as your credit card number to process a cancellation or deal with a billing error.
|
When All Else Fails
It happens to the best of us. We do everything write and still something goes wrong or we find out the site we joined won't help us. In this instance the best option is to notify your credit card company or bank immediately. They can and usually will help.
If you run across a site listed here the falls into this category please notify me so I can remove their link. Keep in mind though, I do not get involed in anyway with the resolution of disputes.
|
Go Forth And Enjoy
Having read all the above don't be discouraged. The Internet is a wonderful place and there is lots of fun to be had from many adult entertainment sites. Just think responsibly and you'll enjoy your experiences.
